What if it Rains on my Wedding Day?

10 Points to Consider

Moments’ photographers have shot more than a 1,000 weddings, so we know that proper prior planning produces perfect pictures. Every bride hopes for perfect weather on her wedding day but every year the hopes of many couples are drenched when the skies open and guests scurry for the nearest cover. Rain on your wedding day is always disappointing, but it need not be disastrous – providing you’ve devised a contingency strategy.

  1. Choose the reception location very carefully.
  2. Ask yourself two main questions. Where will your guests go if it’s raining on the day? Where will the photographers shoot your pictures?
  3. Many superb wedding venues offer wonderful grounds, where guests can wander at leisure and where photographic opportunities abound. But some of the best “Sunny Day Locations” are impossible when it rains. One wonderful West Sussex Location offers guests only two indifferent rooms in the event of bad weather and one of those is always being prepared for the next timetable event! Guests are crushed together in one room and photographic opportunities virtually cease to exist.
  4. So, when you choose your reception location study what Rainy Day Opportunities exist. Only part with your money if you are certain Rain on the Day won’t spoil your wedding plans.
  5. Insure your wedding. It’s cheap enough and like all insurance premiums they’re only expensive if you don’t make a claim. If you do – the premium was really cheap.
  6. Remember that golf umbrellas can help your photographer create wonderful rainy day pictures. Most petrol stations sell multi-coloured golf brollies for around £3.00 each. Buy 25. You won’t regret the purchase if it rains on the day and you can always sell them on eBay if it doesn’t.
  7. Insist upon a pre-wedding planning meeting with your photographer. Visit every location where pictures are to be taken. Expect the best, plan for the worst. Bride and Groom and the photographer need to know how to shoot pictures which capture Special Moments on the day.
  8. Check that your photographer’s cameras are weather proofed. Modern digital cameras often fail in the rain.
  9. So do flashguns.
  10. The bride should pack a spare pair of white pumps because, if it’s rained during the day, or the night before, stilettos sink into the turf – pumps won’t.

If you have prepared by studying these ten points, rain on the day won’t spoil your wedding.
