Midge and Hugh have had a marvellous year!

Hugh Graham bought an all black, classic Saab 900 full pressure turbo, first registered in April 1989, just over a year ago, and has been using the car as his daily transport, ever since. “Absolutely marvellous,” he says. “Midge has proved totally reliable, extremely economical to run and an absolute joy to drive. Furthermore, it’s increased in value by at least £1000.00 during the year, so it looks as though depreciation is going to be a thing of the past…”

Why does he call the car “Midge”?

Hugh’s registration mark is MJI 8399 - a private plate he acquired years ago, when the letters also stood for Member of the Journalists’ Institute. Today that organisation is known as The Chartered Institute of Journalists and Hugh is still a member.
